Zara Website Evaluation & Recommendations

Zara Website Evaluation & Recommendations is a UX analysis project focused on reviewing Zara’s online shopping experience and identifying opportunities to improve usability, clarity, and customer confidence. The project included a competitive overview, current state analysis, heuristic evaluation, SWOT analysis, and practical recommendations for key areas such as the homepage, product pages, and checkout process.

Website Evaluation & UX Improvements

The goal of this project was to evaluate Zara’s website experience from a user-centered perspective and identify areas where the interface could become clearer, easier to navigate, and more helpful for online shoppers. The analysis focused on visual hierarchy, product information, navigation, checkout clarity, and the overall shopping flow. The main challenge was to balance Zara’s minimalist and fashion-focused aesthetic with the practical information users need when shopping online, such as product details, size availability, delivery dates, payment options, and checkout guidance.

Project Overview

This project analyzed Zara’s website to understand how well the shopping experience supports users during product discovery, decision-making, and checkout. The evaluation started with a competitive review of similar fashion and retail brands, followed by a current state analysis of Zara’s main pages. The project identified strengths such as Zara’s strong visual identity, minimalist layout, and bold fashion imagery, while also highlighting usability issues related to small typography, limited product information, unclear categories, and crowded visual layouts.

The project also included a heuristic evaluation to review important usability principles such as system visibility, user control, consistency, error prevention, recognition, flexibility, minimalist design, and help documentation. These insights helped define practical recommendations for improving the homepage, product pages, and checkout process. Suggested improvements included adding personalized recommendations, clearer product descriptions, customer reviews, wishlist options, visible delivery dates, easier editing of shipping information, and more payment methods.

My role in this project involved researching competitors, analyzing Zara’s current website experience, identifying usability issues, organizing findings into a SWOT analysis, and proposing design recommendations to improve the user journey. The final recommendation included a checkout redesign concept that makes payment methods, delivery dates, order totals, and shipping review options more visible to users.
