Leamer

Leamer is a language practice platform designed to help people improve their speaking skills through low-pressure conversations and gaming-inspired interactions. The project focuses on reducing language anxiety by creating a space where users can connect with others, practice naturally, and feel more confident while learning. Instead of feeling like a traditional study app, Leamer makes language practice more social, playful, and human.
Language Learning Through Gaming & Social Interaction

The goal of this project was to design a digital platform that makes language practice feel less intimidating and more natural. Leamer focuses on helping users find conversation partners through shared interests, especially gaming, so they can practice a second language in a relaxed and engaging environment. The main challenge was to create an experience that felt friendly, motivating, and easy to use, while also addressing a real problem: many language learners understand grammar and vocabulary, but feel anxious when they have to speak with others.
Project Overview
Leamer began as a response to a common problem in language learning: speaking anxiety. Many learners spend time studying vocabulary and grammar, but still feel nervous when they need to have real conversations. This project explores how digital interaction, gaming culture, and social connection can make speaking practice feel more comfortable and enjoyable.
The platform is designed around low-pressure conversations, user matching, and playful interaction. Instead of focusing only on lessons or streaks, Leamer encourages users to connect with others, practice naturally, and build confidence through real communication. The project included research, product strategy, user experience planning, visual design, and testing ideas to understand how the platform could support language learners in a more human way.
My role in this project involved developing the product concept, defining the target audience, researching user needs, planning the user experience, and connecting the platform’s strategy with measurable goals such as activation, retention, and user engagement.
